Non-Essential, Elective Medical Procedures Postponed

Posted by Dr. Guiloff

UPDATED March 24, 2020:

In an abundance of caution during this time of uncertainty, and in accordance with the office of the governor, my office is only open for medically necessary procedures at this time.

We are taking the necessary precautions to ensure my team and patients are properly observing social distancing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, which is why we are only open for patients with skin cancer, where not performing treatment will compromise a patient's well-being.

According to the State of Florida, Executive Order Number 20-72:

A. All hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, office surgery centers, dental, orthodontic and endodontic offices, and other health care practitioners' offices in the State of Florida are prohibited from providing any medically unnecessary, non-urgent or non-emergency procedure or surgery which, if delayed, does not place a patient's immediate health, safety, or wellbeing at risk, or will, if delayed, not contribute to the worsening of a serious or life-threatening medical condition. Accordingly, all health care practitioners licensed in the State of Florida, including dentists, shall immediately cease performing these elective services.

B. As articulated in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recommendation, examples of procedures to delay may include, but are not limited to, some endoscopy, most cataract and lens surgeries, non-urgent spine and orthopedic procedures, and cosmetic procedures.

You can view the full executive order here.

What that means for ALL medical patients

All procedures, unless medically urgent, are to be put on hold until the state of emergency for Florida has been lifted. No doctors in Florida should be performing ANY medically unnecessary, non-urgent or non-emergency procedure or surgery which can be safely delayed.

What that means for MY current clients

I will not be performing any elective procedures in the office until given the all clear to do so. If you had an elective procedure booked, the team has likely already reached out to you. Please be patient once we re-open so we can get you re-scheduled as quickly as possible, I thank you in advance for your patience. We will be communicating with you when necessary to ensure you stay updated.

For clients with medically necessary procedures planned, please be sure to stay in touch with office personnel and follow any cautionary procedures passed along to you. These are for you and your family's safety, as well as the office staff.

What that means for MY future patients

New consultation requests will still be accepted, however no new elective appointments will be set until we have a more firm return to business as usual timeframe.

Please take this time to browse before & after photos of your desired procedure, or reach out with any questions you may have.
